About Us

The Friends of the Los Alamitos-Rossmoor Library, founded in 1961, is a 501(c)3 Corporation.
Our purpose is to raise interest in and foster literacy and a love of reading in our community by: 

1. Operating a bookstore and holding  special sales as a major source of fundraising to provide financial support to the Los Alamitos-Rossmoor Library;
2. Providing children’s and adult cultural programs of interest to the community; and
3. Communicating with the membership and community through newsletters, flyers, press, and internet to provide information about activities, book sales, special events, and all other information vital to the functioning of the organization.

Los-Alamitos-Rossmoor Friends of the Library (FOL) is a volunteer, non-profit organization which supports our local library branch by funding various projects and activities throughout the year.  Our primary funding sources are the operation of our book store, membership fees, and generous donations.

Our Board meets every other Wednesday afternoon in the library and we have our Annual Meeting in May.

We are always eager to welcome new volunteers into our FOL family.  We need people who believe in the importance of libraries and are willing to volunteer to keep our library strong.  Check us out on Facebook for a current update on our activities including book sales, seasonal activities, and children's and teen programs.

We are truly friends of the library!  So, join us!  We need your ideas, input and energy.
