Our History
More than 60 years of community service
The Friends of the Los Alamitos-Rossmoor Library was founded in 1961 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation. For over six decades, we’ve worked to raise interest in literacy and foster a love of reading throughout our community.
We operate a used book store and hold special sales to raise funds for library support. We provide children’s and adult cultural programs that bring our community together. And we keep our members and neighbors informed about library activities, book sales, and special events.
Everything we do is powered by volunteers who believe in the importance of libraries and are willing to give their time to keep ours strong.

We are truly friends of the library.
The Los Alamitos-Rossmoor Friends of the Library is a volunteer nonprofit that supports our local library through funded programs and projects year-round. Funding comes from our bookstore, memberships, and donations.
Our Board meets the third Wednesday of every other month at the library, with an Annual Meeting each May. New volunteers are always welcome.
Join us! We need your ideas, input, and energy. Enjoy books and libraries, where adventure begins!
